Episode 2 of Ishq or Takht takes the story away from simply winning the Seljuk throne and into something far more difficult: keeping it. Alaeddin now sits as Sultan, yet the people responsible for the conspiracy against him are still close enough to strike again.
At the same time, a woman from his past enters the palace as his captive. Her name is Destina.
For Alaeddin, however, there is something strangely familiar about her. Years ago, when his life was in danger, a mysterious woman saved him. He never forgot her eyes. Now, after all those years, he sees those same eyes again—but this time they belong to a woman standing before him as an enemy.
Destina Arrives at Konya Palace
Destina’s arrival changes the atmosphere of the palace almost immediately.
She is the daughter of Kir Vard, ruler of Kalonoros, and therefore cannot simply be treated as an ordinary captive. More importantly, Destina is hiding something Alaeddin desperately wants to understand.
She knows more about their shared past than she is willing to reveal.
Destina has her own reasons for remaining silent. Telling Alaeddin everything could endanger Kalonoros and the people she loves. So, even though Alaeddin begins to recognize the woman who once saved him, Destina tries to keep her true identity hidden.
This gives their scenes an interesting tension. Alaeddin is not merely questioning a prisoner; he is trying to understand why someone who appears to be his enemy feels so connected to a memory he has carried for years.
Melike Sees a New Threat
Destina is not entering an empty palace.
Melike Hüma is already waiting for a decision about her marriage to Alaeddin. The political and personal balance surrounding that marriage is delicate enough before Destina appears.
Anna’s presence in the Sultan’s private quarters has already caused tension. Then Alaeddin returns with Destina.
Destina may have entered as a captive, but Melike quickly understands that there is something unusual about Alaeddin’s interest in her. Their meeting therefore feels less like an introduction and more like the beginning of a rivalry. Turkish previews for the episode specifically frame this encounter as the first step in a coming struggle between the two women.
And Alaeddin soon makes the situation even more complicated.
Alaeddin Makes an Unexpected Decision
One of Episode 2‘s biggest developments concerns Alaeddin’s intentions toward Destina.
Despite the hostility between their sides, Alaeddin declares that he intends to marry Kir Vard’s daughter. The decision shocks those around him and puts Melike in an especially painful position. Official promotional material for the episode highlighted Alaeddin’s declaration about marrying Destina as one of its major turning points.
On the surface, the decision appears deeply personal.
But Alaeddin is Sultan now.
Marriage for a ruler can also be a political move.
Destina is not simply the woman whose eyes he remembers. She is also the daughter and heir of the ruler of Kalonoros.
That makes Alaeddin’s decision important on two levels. His feelings are drawing him toward Destina, while his position as Sultan means that any relationship with her could change the political relationship between the Seljuks and Kalonoros.
This is perhaps where the title Ishq or Takht — Love or Throne starts to make real sense.
For Alaeddin, the two are no longer separate.
A Traitor Is Still Inside the Palace
While Destina becomes the centre of attention inside the palace, Alaeddin has not forgotten the attempt made against him.
Someone arranged the ambush.
Someone wanted him removed.
And Alaeddin wants names.
He begins following the trail behind the conspiracy, determined to find those responsible. The investigation puts increasing pressure on Celaleddin, who realizes that Alaeddin is moving dangerously close to the truth.
Celaleddin therefore cannot afford to remain passive.
He needs to prevent Alaeddin from uncovering what happened before the Sultan connects all the pieces.
The Throne Has Enemies on the Inside
This part of Episode 2 makes the political story more interesting because Alaeddin’s greatest danger is not necessarily an army outside Konya.
It could be someone standing beside him.
His years of imprisonment have already taught him what betrayal can cost. Now, as Sultan, he must decide whom he can trust while trying to identify those secretly working against him.
Celaleddin’s position becomes increasingly dangerous as that search progresses.
Every answer Alaeddin finds takes him another step closer to the truth.

Kir Vard Turns to Andreas
Away from Konya, another danger is beginning to move.
Kir Vard has been unable to get news from his children. Faced with this uncertainty, he recalls a formidable warrior he had kept at a distance for years:
Andreas.
Andreas is not introduced as an insignificant soldier. The character is portrayed as a powerful warrior with deep hostility toward the Turks, making his return potentially important for the coming confrontation with the Seljuks.
Meanwhile, Kir Vard himself heads toward Konya.
His meeting with Alaeddin creates an opportunity for the Sultan. Instead of merely reacting to Kir Vard’s moves, Alaeddin appears ready to use the confrontation to influence the future of Kalonoros.
With Andreas returning and Destina now inside the Seljuk palace, the conflict between the two sides has suddenly become much more personal.
Episode 2 Changes the Direction of the Story
The first episode had to establish Alaeddin’s return and his path toward the throne.
Episode 2 begins showing what ruling will actually cost him.
There is a traitor somewhere around the Sultan.
Celaleddin has truths he cannot allow to surface.
Melike sees her expected future with Alaeddin slipping away.
Kir Vard is preparing his response.
Andreas is being drawn back into the struggle.
And Destina is trapped in the middle of all of them.
Yet Destina’s greatest danger may be the secret she carries herself.
She knows the truth about her earlier connection with Alaeddin, while Alaeddin is slowly beginning to recognize it.
That leaves Episode 2 with a much more interesting question than simply who controls the throne:
What happens when Alaeddin finally discovers who Destina really is?
